NABF Working Dogues Recognition Page

The Dogue de Bordeaux breed is more than a pretty face. It is a multi-faceted breed that possesses a great degree of drive, and can accomplish many tasks. It can be a fierce protector, while in the same motion, be the most gentle playmate for a child. The breed loves to find the "sweet spot" in any couch or recliner chair, but can also run, jump and show amazing brawn and physical abilities, all in the same day. The Dogue de Bordeaux is a pretty amazing breed, that was bred to do many things. It's not just a pretty face.

At right and below is "Grandpa". He is owned by Hope Edwards of Oklahoma. Hope is our NABF member who is the most active in working events with her dogues. She also participates in conformation showing. Hope and Grandpa, as well as Grandpa's mother, Annie, all participate in obedience and agility trials. Hope has found this to be a very rewarding activity for her & her dogues, and continues to show the world that Dogues can win in the conformation ring, as well as the working ring! Grandpa, and his mother, Annie, are both UKC conformation champions as well.

At left is Red Dog Ridge Beaute Rouge, AKA "Sarabi". Sarabi is owned by Penny Fusner of Pennsylvania. Penny has worked hard to prove that the Dogue de Bordeaux can look good, work hard, and do it all! To date, Sarabi is the first and only dog in the breed to have achieved a United Kennel Club Weight Pull Championship! In addition, Sarabi has been shown extensively in conformation, and has attained Champion titles in AKC, UKC, Rarities, Dogue De Bordeaux Society as well as the North American Bordeaux Federation. She is also CGC certified as well as TT tested and passed for proper temperament in the breed. Sarabi is now retired from weight pulling, but she has blazed a trail for other dogues to follow! Sarabi proves that the Dogue de Bordeaux is more than a pretty face!
