Ethical breeders who love their breed and breed for betterment, create puppies for the sole purpose of breed improvement. Good breeders stand behind the dogs they produce, offer guarantees they make good on if need be, heavily scrutenize each puppy buyer, health test parents of puppies for the most prevelent afflictions affecting the breed, are active in breed issues, are part of a well known breed club, have a good name in the breed community and are always willing to help newcomers understand the breed to ensure they are well advised on all aspects of the breed before aquiring it.
Please do your homework and ask lots of questions. Do not impulse buy. This is a breed that gets large, eats alot of food and when it needs vet care, can cost alot more than smaller dogs. They are also average shedders, they
DO slobber and can be very headstrong, and therefore need a strong minded owner.
There are many very good breeders out there, and it is important you put your faith and money into someone who is upstanding.
Good Tips To Investigate: Find out if any breeder you are looking to purchase from has or has had any legal issues regarding animals or any court judgements against them regarding the sales of their dogs or their breeding operations, whether they have been the subject of discipline by any breed club, animal association or registry.
Check out the Better Business Bureau and see if the breeder you are interested in has had any complaints filed against them AT ANY POINT IN TIME, not just presently. Ask the number of complaints that have ever been received about any breeder. This may be a huge red flag just with that information alone.
Also, ask for a list of current references, not only of puppy buyers, but of breed clubs and other animal related associations, as well as personal references from outside of family & friends.

Every good breeder should follow a basic code of ethics and never sway from it. The NABF's Code of Ethics can be found here:
http://www.nabfclub.com/COE.html

All NABF members listed on this breeder page are club members in good standing, with no disciplinary issues or complaints, and have subscribed to the NABF Code of Ethics.
